Governance typologies

There are 5 governance typologies that represent countries with similar mangrove policies, laws, and governance.

The heatmap represents the characteristics of each typology, with scores from 0 (low) to 1 (high) for each policy, law, and governance factor.

The policy, law, and governance factors can be reduced into three main dimensions that define the Governance typologies, based on their correlations:

  1. Presence or absence of Mangrove policy, Coastal Zone Planning, and a National Coordination Mechanism
  2. High or low governance effectiveness and regulatory quality
  3. Presence or absence of mangrove clearing restrictions
